Private quarters start from the Green dining room in the northern part of the palace, they were created in 1770s in accordance with the decree of Catherine The Second for the grand duke Pavel Petrovich (future emperor Pavel The First) and his first wife Natalia Alekseevna. Interior and art décor of the Green dining room were executed by the favourite architect of Catherine The Second Charles Cameron.
